By listening closely and focusing on quality, we bring clients peace of mind. After guiding numerous clients from global enterprises to mid-market firms and non-profit organizations, we are now experiencing breakthrough growth.
What we are looking for Pivotal Consulting is seeking an experienced Workday Time & Absence Configuration Consultant to lead the initial configuration and deployment of Workday Time Tracking and Absence solutions for new client environments. This role is focused on standing up Time & Absence functionality from scratch, designing the foundational configuration, and translating business requirements into a scalable Workday setup. The ideal candidate is comfortable building clean, technically sound configurations in new tenants rather than primarily maintaining already established Workday environments. Workday documentation notes that Absence uses a rules-based approach for setting up plans and calculations, which supports this type of initial configuration work.
What you will do
Lead initial configuration of Workday Time Tracking and Absence modules in greenfield or early-stage implementation environments.
Define and build foundational tenant setup, including configuration objects, time and absence rules, eligibility criteria, calculation logic, and approval workflows.
Translate client requirements into Workday configuration decisions, with a focus on accurate initial design, data setup, and process readiness.
Configure time off plans, accruals, leave rules, time calculation groups, and related validation logic to support client policies.
Build and test business processes, condition rules, calculated fields, and supporting configuration needed to launch Time & Absence successfully.
Partner with functional and technical teams to align time/absence design with payroll, HR, scheduling, and downstream integrations.
Perform fit-gap analysis and recommend configuration approaches for complex policy scenarios before build begins.
Support tenant readiness activities, including testing, documentation, cutover planning, and go-live support.
Troubleshoot configuration issues during deployment and validate that setup behaves correctly across common workforce scenarios.
Create clear documentation, configuration workbooks, and handoff materials for post-implementation support teams.
What makes you a good fit Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Master’s preferred.
5+ years of Workday experience, with hands-on focus in Time Tracking and Absence configuration.
Experience supporting at least one full-cycle Workday implementation, preferably with initial tenant setup or greenfield deployment.
Strong ability to configure Workday Time & Absence from the ground up, including plans, rules, calculations, eligibility, and approvals.
Working knowledge of Workday business processes, condition rules, calculated fields, and configuration lifecycle practices.
Solid understanding of time, absence, payroll, and workforce policy design.
Experience facilitating client workshops and converting business requirements into detailed configuration decisions.
Strong documentation skills and ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both business and technical stakeholders.
Workday certification in Time Tracking, Absence, or related HCM areas is highly preferred.
Preferred
Exposure to Workday HCM, Payroll, Scheduling, or integrations.
Experience with Workday reporting and validation testing.
Background in systems implementation, configuration consulting, or HR technology.
PMP, CSM, or other project delivery certifications.
